The Forfar community joined together this month to support an incredible fundraiser organised by two local girls, Demi and Olivia Russo.

The two 11-year-olds invited teams from Forfar and the surrounding Angus areas to take part in Forfar’s very own ‘It’s a Knock Out!’ event to raise funds for children with cancer and leukaemia, specifically at Lippen Care’s Strathmore Hospice (Angus) and Ninewells Oncology Ward (Dundee).

After months of planning and organising the event from start to finish the duo had to ensure that the pitch surface, at Forfar West End Social, would be protected throughout ‘It’s a Knock Out!’ – without any sort of surface protection the fundraiser wouldn’t have been able to go ahead.

After being notified at the last minute in regards to the groundman’s protection requirements, Demi’s mum reached out to Don & Low to see if there was anything we could do to help. Fortunately, we were able to supply some of our high-quality Lotrak® 70R, a woven reinforcement geotextile, which would provide the event surface with high tensile strength and low strain – making it the ideal solution to protect the soft ground at the West End Social Club.

Proud mum Diane explained: “The event would not have happened without the help and support from Don & Low. We cannot thank them enough for their contribution to the event’s success.”

Bryan Donald, D&L Geotextiles Sales Executive, added: “We’re absolutely thrilled that we could help by suppling Lotrak® 70R for the ‘It’s a Knock Out!’ surface to ensure the event went ahead as planned.

With everything from raffles, stalls and dog competitions to beat the goalie, sponge the teacher/boss/parents, the event had something for everyone – even if you weren’t taking part in the main event.

The fundraising total, to date, is a fantastic £1,500.
